I recently accompanied Jay and some others to a tree-lined pavilion of sorts in between university housing complexes in the U District and watched them re-purpose a thrown-out couch and set up for the night. Today I sort of rethought this young adult homelessness project after checking out a fascinating recent article in the NYTimes...

More work on the SPU/Gates/IWest homeless youth project. See below.
Tony
I’m glad to be starting some meaningful work for IWest with indirect funding from the SPU/ Gates homelessness grant. We’ll be looking at youth in Seattle and on the Eastside. Hung out with Tony today, homeless and on dialysis: a thoroughly unforgiving combination.
I-West on PBS, in Seattle Times

Surf ski training

Florida wrap-up
This was most likely my last shoot for the ‘money story’ project. Esther, Dave, thanks again for letting me hang out. It was a pleasure to visit your city, your church, your lives…I wish you well.
Florida

Southern hospitality
I had a lovely evening with the Brewster’s in Atlanta, documenting their goings-on as part of my ’southeast tour’ for Tom Lennon’s Peterson Foundation project. Thanks for the steak and the Sweetwater guys, ’tis a fine beer with an apt name. Now on to Destin FL, white sand beaches and two more days of...
Makin’ it
Things are looking up for former Navy Seal officer James Marvin, who, after much consternation and a huge leap of faith, is finding his place in Seattle, in a new home, with a new job after 8 months of unemployment, pursuing his dream in renewable energies.

Back in LA
These images are from a recent trip I made to Long Beach and Santa Ana for the Marguerite Casey Foundation project. I met some amazing folks down there. Saul, gracias por los nisperos- los estamos comiendo todavia.
